3rd Grade

The Third Grade unit has four investigations. These investigations are interchangeable, but they are recommended to be used in the following order. Investigation 1 focuses on weather, plants, and biomes. Students learn about weather and climate and then connect this knowledge to the plants and animals that live in the region. Investigation 2 helps students understand the history of New Mexico. They will use different types of evidence to explore the past. In Investigation 3 students investigate plant growth, anatomy, and life cycles through plant dissections and soil. Investigation 4 pulls together what students learned, allowing them to apply their knowledge to the local environment around the school. They will use what they have learned to create a guidebook to the school yard plants.
