History

Co-developed and collaboratively taught

In 2018, teachers from SFPS and staff from Audubon, the Santa Fe Botanical Garden, and Santa Fe Watershed Association and Riversource, gathered at El Camino Real Academy for a week of training and collaboration. Facilitators from the Los Alamos National Laboratory Foundation and Inquiry Science Education Consortium trained us on NGSS and curriculum development. Each partner organization worked with a team of expert classroom teachers to outline and write the lesson sequence. Teachers provided the technical expertise while partner orgs contributed content knowledge about the life science topics.

In subsequent years, teachers have continued to partner with SFOEC orgs to provide feedback on the lessons, develop assessment and evaluation tools, as well as innovate on new modules for students. In 2020, all lessons were re-designed for distance learning.
