About SFOEC

Who we are

The Santa Fe Outdoor Education Collaborative is a partnership between three community organizations, classroom teachers, and the Santa Fe Public Schools district. The Randall Davey Audubon Center, Santa Fe Botanical Garden, and Santa Fe Watershed association work together to provide high-quality, standards-aligned life-science curricula to 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students.

“It truly was awesome. I am a return participant and learned so much. I am always motivated when surrounded by you folks and fellow teachers.”

Our approach

We provide annual professional development opportunities to classroom teachers. Our annual summer institute connects teachers with their grade level partners, provides in-depth training on the life-science curriculum, as well as support modules around interdisciplinary connections to ELA, teaching outside, social-emotional learning, and more.

In addition, SFOEC-trained teachers receive free outdoor field trips from our three partner organizations. These field experiences are intended to support and highlight the in-class life-science lessons delivered by teachers.
